Tales of the queen chapter 6

The bullets flew around the courtyard. Some were reduced to ashes by the fireballs coming towards them.
"Is it good to be back Lady April?" Hisoka shouted over the sound of gunfire.
"I've never been met with so much love!" She said happily, yet sarcastically as she threw the fireball towards the guards shooting. She looked back at her daughter who was pacing.
"Off with their heads...Off with their heads? Yes! Off with their heads!!" Rita mumbled.
"Uh..Rita? Shouldn't you spend some quality time with your mother?" Hisoka stopped Rita's pacing.
"Oh..Yeah I should do that sometime.." Rita looked a little zoned out.
"What should I do with the guard leaders?" He whispered.
"Have them executed, and replaced within the day." Rita ordered.
"And if they beg for their lives and swear allegiance to the queen and her country?"
"If they are saying that out of fear then kill them, we don't need a scared dog lying around the castle. If they are saying that out of truth, which I highly doubt will happen and they believe fully in my country then spare their lives." Hisoka glanced about.
"How am I to tell?"
"Don't ask me Hisoka, you're good at these things." Rita walked off towards her mother and they both headed inside the castle.
"So Rita..." April smiled.
"Don't talk to me until these soldiers are dead mother, I don't want you to change my mind."
Rita and April waited for a few hours, doing their own things. They ate lunch without a word. Rita walked down the hall silently when it was time for the execution. There was a small size room, 3 guns for the three men each with one bullet. "H-Hisoka shoot them now." Rita was shaking, she had always had trouble with executions. It reminded her of the past, how she could've died and what she had done to save herself. Hisoka grabbed the gun and pointed it at one of the men, he looked to be older than the rest, possibly mid forties, and
"Don't you dare shoot." April muttered, her face taking on a serious look. Hisoka continued to hold the gun to the mans face.
"Hisoka, I'm not sure if I made myself clear but put the damn gun down." He didn't drop his weapon and kept his gaze on Rita's face. April had had enough. She ran behind Hisoka and attacked him. She grabbed the gun in her hands.
"Rita go to your room. Now." Rita shook her head.
"Really mother? You think YOU of all people have that power over me? To tell me to go to my room like I'm somehow subservient to you?"
"Rita, you won't want to see this. I'm serious."
"I do and I shall stay." April knew Rita was just angry, and what she was about to do would not be comfortable for her.
"If you say so." She mumbled, picking up the gun and making sure it was loaded. She walked over to the older looking soldier. "You remember me hun?" She asked looking down on him.
"How could I forget the promiscuous Madame April." April responded to this by kicking him in the face.
"Now I bet you remember the time I would've taken that as a compliment. I was young and naive, I remember you used to be so kind to me..but now you greet me with guns? Silly boy~ Now though, instead of being young and naive I'm pointing a gun at your face. Wouldn't it help if you were the same old nice guy you were?"
"A-pril"
"Haha but you're not." She said shooting him.
April was right, Rita did not want to have seen that.

Tales of the queen chapter 5

Rita sat her cup down angrily,
"You mean to tell me..that the girl told you to tell me my own mother is somewhere in the castle?" Hisoka sighed,
"Yes milady."
"Then alert the guards at once! We can't have them trampling over her with their blasted swords." Rita muttered. She felt unusually worried about this,
"Of course." Her loyal knight replied quietly.
"What is the girls name? Were you able to figure that out?" Rita spat out the question.
"Yes, her name is Lucy, she's lived here since she was seven."
"How odd, I've never seen her before she killed the bastard, anyway you should go."
"Yes." I bet Hisoka still thinks he's kind..I have to keep the events of that room a secret, if anyone found out I'd be taken off the throne. Rita thought looking around her room.
"Hisoka come back please." She shouted.
"What?" He asked annoyed.
"I'm coming too." She stood up from the throne where she normally sat and took off her crown.
"Uh.." Hisoka hummed nervously.
"What? C'mon I know I don't do this often but...really?" Hisoka sighed and they began the long walk to the knights central area. Rita climbed on top of the table in the center of the room and shouted,
"THIS IS YOUR QUEEN SPEAKING..ahem can everyone hear me nicely? Good! Now if my mother comes in dont kill her or I swear to god I'll have your heads cut off so fast you wont get to blink~ <3
"Shall we return?" Hisoka mumbled to her.
"Nope~ I think I'm going to stay around for a bit longer." If Hisoka ever wanted to shout profanities at Rita it would be now.
"Rita I insist we must go back."
"I really would rather not Hiso!" She chimed spinning in circles. Hisoka had enough, he slowly backed her into a corner.
"Look Rita, I've known you your whole life and you've known me mine. Now what I'm wondering is why don't you ever take anyone else's opinions into consideration? You're grandfather, your advisors, I can't take this anymore Rita!" Rita pushed him away without a thought, she used so much force it nearly knocked him to the ground.
"Hisoka, I need you to understand something." She said dragging him back to the throne room. "Every single person in this castle who was supposedly an 'advisor' has turned their back on me, they are all against me and the strength of my kingdom!" Hisoka felt a pang of disbelief.
"There's no way..." He saw the fear in Rita's eyes.
"Even you're grandpa?" Rita nodded.
"I'm sorry!" Hisoka embraced Rita.
'He always was so considerate..better not say that now though or he'll think im making fun of him.'
"C'mon." He said grabbing Rita's hand,
"Let's go for a walk."
"Hehe, you're such a dork." Rita giggled.
Hisoka gave her an annoyed look and kept walking. "BANG! BANG BANG BANG!!!" They heard the sound of gun fire.
"Guess moms here!" Rita cheered.
"Yup, I guess so." Hisoka smiled, fireballs flew past them.
"It'll be nice to get to see her won't it Rita?" He looked beside him, where she was supposed to be.
"R-Rita!?" He shouted exhausted from her antics. Then he noticed her red haired body running out to where the fight was taking place.
"Hisoka?" He turned around,
"I really don't-oh it's you." Lucy was standing behind him.
"I want to help fight please!" She begged.
"You're too young...Damn ok fine, come on!" The little girl clutched his hand in hers as they ran through the field, bullets and flames flying around them.
"OH I guess I shouldn't have done that should I?" Rita smiled on the other side.
"It doesn't matter you're fine and magically happy so lets leave it at that." Hisoka groaned.
Rita turned around as she sensed a large magical source,
"Rita!! Rita honey~"
"April's here Rita, go talk to her I'll get these guards to stop ok?" Hisoka shouted over the gun fire.
"Ok!" Rita ran towards her mother faster than she had ever ran before.

Tales of the knight chapter 4

The warm air flooded Hisoka's room as he awoke to chatter outside his window. He jerked out of bed and slid into his clothing. The light streaming into his room as he opened the curtains. For a brief moment something didn't seem right, he felt the panic inside of him rise to an almost dangerous level. He ran through the castles main hall frantically, pushing down any of the knights that were in his way. He knocked on the door, "Rita?" He called, "Rita are you in there?" Still no response. He turned the handle slowly, silently praying to himself that she would be okay. He walked into the room that was normally filled with sun-light to find it in complete darkness. "Rita..RITA!?" He shouted, but there was no response. He opened the curtains to see if he could see if the light would allow him to better see her whereabouts. His eyes moved away from the window and towards the beautiful red throne, "Hello..Hisoka." Rita whimpered almost silently. "R-Rita.." He mouthed. "We have a problem, and I need your help." Her eyes began to water as she pointed to the door that lead to her personal basement. "I'll take care of it." Hisoka muttered. He didn't know what to expect at this point, maybe a dead body, maybe a stray kitten. The thought struck him W-What happened to my life? Where did it go? He sighed as he arrived in the basement. He heard a voice "So you're here? You're that servant boy Rita talks about.." Hisoka stared into the darkness to see a pair of pale green eyes staring back at him. He lit up the room with his magic. He saw that the pale green eyes belonged to a young girl with pale blond hair. She looked so innocent, but beside her was a sight Hisoka never wanted to see; the dead body of Rita's grandfather, his teacher. "How could she...Damn it...I thought she had enough human in her not to do this! But she did! Her only grandfather and-and the only one who could help me develop my magic! Damn it!" He shouted in distress. "Sir, I hate to sound rude, but you seem rather selfish." The young girl's voice struck Hisoka like knives. "You...You're calling ME selfish? Rita has killed EVERYONE that could have ever taught me magic!" The girl looked apathetic, "I-I'm so sorry." Hisoka shook his head, "No..You're right. I'm an idiot for thinking that I could actually have a teacher thats alive, and maybe possibly be like my damn father...but no I'll never be able to show him my talents, there's no way I can save him like this." He cried. He stood up and began to punch the wall. "Why can't April get here already? First of all her daughters a freaking serial killer and I'm left without a tutor. Why can't things ever go right around here?" He heard a loud crashing noise and jerked his head around. "What is it now.." He mumbled, but he noticed the frail girl was lying on the ground passed out. She was mumbling something as he kneeled over her. "Hey..Hey are you OK?" He asked shaking her. The child's eyes opened as fast as they had closed,
"Tell Rita mommy's home."

Tales of the queen -rita side- chapter 2c

Rita knew that this whole thing would be more trouble than it was worth. She knew why she should do it, however too. She sat there knowing her mother was to return from the 11 years she had been away and would act like nothing had happened. That was her way, the way she acted and felt. She knew her mother didn't feel like there had been any rift between them, but she was terribly wrong she wasn't Rita's mother anymore and never would be again.

"Rita, the high magician would like to meet with you about your mothers arrival." Hisoka said quietly. He didn't like being at the castle at all, but even he felt sorry for Rita in times like this.
"Let him know I'll be there." She murmured dropping her book to the floor. Hisoka stared at her, her thoughtless eyes glancing back at his.
"Why are you so upset, Rita?" Hisoka asked moving towards the sad princess.
"Wouldn't you be also if you had been betrayed?" Rita whispered as she passed him.
"Wheres the hope gone?" She shouted back at him.
"What happened to the time where we were just two happy kids? One a servant and the other a princess but neither of us cared about rank or service!" She screamed.
Hisoka stumbled a bit at this.
"Why can't we go back!?" She sobbed.
"Because this is our future now." Penny said quietly as she walked in with the folded towels.
"Who determined that? God? Was this his doing?" Rita yelled back to her.
"This is of no ones doing but the faults of man-kind." Penny whispered.
"We are flawed and incomplete, you cannot judge on that."
"I WILL judge on that! You see those people? Those citizens with their own lives!? Because of the faults of human kind all those people those husbands and wives, those children could all die of starvation in a matter of minutes! All because one witch woman was too afraid to take over the damn country and left it to a child!" Penny shook her head,
"Rita, dear, the faults of human kind are great and can do terrible things but your mother leaving you in charge was not one of them. Do not judge Rita, that will serve you terribly in your line of work."
Rita stood there emotionless, it was like she was paralyzed with anger.
"Again, I SAID I WILL JUDGE, because I know I am better than to do that! We should all be better than that, and if we are not we deserve to be blamed!"
"Rita it's time to go!" One of the lesser servants called on her to go to the high magician.
Rita made her day through the winding hall, the little barefoot servant girl in toe.
"What happened to your shoes?" Rita asked turning her head around.
"They were taken away from me, master. They told me I did not deserve shoes, that they were better than who I could ever be." The little girl started to cry, Rita embraced her.
"Shh...shh..It's ok, don't ever believe someone like that. They are people who are worse than you. THEY don't deserve their shoes."
The little girl stopped crying,
"Why...would you hug someone as filthy as me?" She asked. Her sweet voice filled the air, she wasn't evil or filthy or week she was strong. She was just like Rita, but in a different position.
"Because you are not filthy, girl, you are strong, and beautiful, and intelligent. You have as much potential to be amazing as a princess." The little girl smiled a faint smile, it was very small. She still doubted her own ability. She still thought of herself as a dirty and ugly girl, but Rita had done her part to help her believe in herself.
Rita dismissed the girl from her duties and walked to the magician's door. She knocked slowly, she never knew what the crazy man was up to.
"Come in!" His croaky voice appeared from behind the door. Rita turned the knob and walked into the room.
"It is very nice to see you dear, it's been so long." Rita stood their quietly, the high magician was her grandfather on her fathers side. They had never quite gotten a long and she had never told him about how she had killed her uncle, his son.
"It is nice to see you grandfather, what do you have to speak to me about." Grandfather set his books down on the table and took a seat,
"Now what I'd like to speak to you about is your mother. As you know I am not very fond of her, nor is the entire kingdom after abandoning them." One thing Rita noticed was that he didn't even think to mention that she could be hurt, that maybe she was angry too! But that would never cross his mind..
"Yes I am aware, now please get to the facts." She could tell her grandfather was displeased but Liam had never been a happy man.
"We are going to kill your mother." He said joyously.
Something inside made Rita feel like she was being electrocuted with her own hatred for her grandfather.
"Like hell you will!" Rita slammed her fists down on the table, making the books jump into the air.
"We have all agreed on it, your opinion doesn't matter anymore silly girl." Inside Rita was screaming, her head was spinning and her heart was aching.
"You won't....You can't...You will NEVER overpower me! I took control so this would never happen and I will NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!" She was really angry now, she was ready to kill this man, she knew she couldn't she wasn't strong enough with magic or weapons.
"Little girl, you seem to not understand..You are meaningless, you fall into the same unloved pit as your mother. Everyone hates you. Your days are number and you've always been doomed to die."
Rita backed up into a corner, she knew she wouldn't walk out of the room. He was right her days were numbered and she WAS doomed." He began to walk towards her casting his spells and readying his knives.
"Why would you kill your own grand-daughter?" Rita whispered, if she was to die she would like to know why.
"Because you aren't my grand-daughter."Rita stood there in shock.
"What does that mean?" She whispered, now she was afraid..what did she not know that she would never know? Even in the eternity of death?
"Your father was adopted, we never loved him quite as much. He didn't really commit suicide, you understand that, we killed him. Your father wanted a change the castle did not agree with. You're just like him, trying to change those things that are not worth changing."
Rita stood there, "Then kill me. Let me be with my father so I can understand, let me seek solace with the people who were killed for loving."
Her grandfather walked towards her, his angry face scowling. He readied his knife and his magic. Rita closed her eyes ready to feel the blood and the pain of what was to come. She heard a bam, she expected it all to disappear soon, to go away into a happier place in death. Instead she opened her eyes. She saw her grandfather on the floor in a bloody heap and the servant girl standing over him with a knife, mouthing:
"I'm not filthy, you bastard."

Tales of the knight -hisoka side- chapter 1

(just to clarify Tales of The Knight is Hisoka's story and Tales of The Queen is Rita's side)
-Current time: 12 years ahead from Rita's first chapter-

"Fire!"
The loud cry rang out through the castle courtyard. Hisoka stood there waiting for his turn to shoot; it was silly that he needed to learn such a thing when he could do much better things.
"Hisoka why are you just standing around!? What the hell do you think you're doing?"
Hisoka looked up at the large muscular man whose spit was flying onto his face.
"No sir, there, however, is no reason for me to be here" The sergeant looked at him displeased.
"And why is that!?" His spitting habit was really beginning to displease Hisoka.
"Sir, I could kill you if you'd like and prove to you that I have no need to be here, but I could also just leave and pass my military exam."
The examiner was taken back by his bravery.
"Fine..then...You can go." Hisoka walked briskly past him and into the castle.
"Rita?" He called, looking around the halls.
"WHAT!?" Rita shouted from the bathroom.
"OK I'm going to go now.." Hisoka backed off, he didn't feel like talking to the grouchy princess.
"What you afraid of a girl taking a dump?" She said walking out of the bathroom.
"No..thats not it at all." Hisoka felt nervous, he didn't like how awkward Rita got at moments like these.
"Anyway your mother sent you a letter, I think you should read it!" Hisoka said defiantly.
"Why should I?" Rita muttered, taking her place at the throne.
"BECAUSE it's important Ri.." Hisoka trailed off. Rita sighed and snatched the letter from Hisoka's hand. She looked down at the letter that read:
"Dearest Rita, I worry I must return soon to the castle. I know your father shall not forgive me for the affair I had, but please do your best to convince him.
If Hisoka has not read this yet, it is of the utmost importance that he protect you as best he possibly can in this time, until I can be with you-"
Rita stopped reading abruptly,
"Why does she think..." She teared up, "That I need her?" Hisoka sighed,
"Keep reading."
"-There are people out to get you Rita, people who want what you have. It's a dangerous thing, power is. I will be there as soon as I can catch a boat out, I feel like you should know that your little brother died of pneumonia yesterday, there was nothing we could do. I broke it off with Hiroshi, Ri. He can't get in your way anymore..I needed a reason to break off and when he refused treatment of your brother...I didn't know what to do. I hope you know I love you and will be there soon,
Your mother,
April"
Rita began to cry, "I...didn't even know I had a brother! How could I let her go through that alone!?"
Rita nearly fell out of her chair sobbing, it was so hard for Hisoka to watch. He couldn't even imagine what it would have been like if he had to lose his little sister..or even if he had never met her.
"Rita, the mail carrier told me something else when he delivered this."
Rita looked up with a glint of hope in her eyes.
"What'd he say?" Hisoka cleared his throat a bit, he needed to prepare her.
"Rita...he said that Hiroshi is coming to the castle also, not with your mother. That he is after everyone here, he wants to destroy the whole castle."
"Why?" Rita asked.
"Heh..I really don't know..I'm sorry. Whats important now is that we defend it until your mom arrives, after all she is a witch stronger than any other witch in the country."
Rita nodded, she hated that she didn't have the power that her mother possessed, it ate at her that she couldn't be strong too.
"Don't worry Rita, you might not be strong, but you wouldn't go running around on your child and husband." Hisoka smiled.
Rita sighed, there was much to prepare for.
